The Department of Psychiatry recognizes the mental health challenges faced by medically ill patients and the increasing complexity of their care, which reflects the capabilities and advancements in modern medical science. Furthermore, we acknowledge the challenges that arise when physical and psychiatric care are fragmented.
The Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Unit was established to address psychiatric issues in patients admitted across various medical departments. Our mission is to enhance holistic care, treat co-occurring mental health conditions in medically ill patients, and elevate the quality of life for individuals hospitalized at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital.
- Inpatient Psychiatric Consultation Services: Provides diagnosis, assessment, and treatment for inpatients in non-psychiatric wards who require psychiatric consultation. This includes managing conditions such as delirium, adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, or mood disturbances during hospitalization, emotional and behavioral changes associated with physical illnesses, as well as pre-operative and pre-procedure psychiatric evaluations for advanced medical interventions.
- Supportive Care Clinic: Provides specialized diagnosis, assessment, and treatment for outpatients with complex, co-occurring physical and psychiatric conditions that require close interdisciplinary coordination. This clinic also ensures continuity of care for patients transitioning from the inpatient psychiatric consultation service.
